You are going to need the following items. A lamp, an ordinary cost effective lampshade, crystal beads, small shells, glass beads or plastic beads, some fishing line, hot glue, a hot glue gun and scissors.

1.)Getting the lampshade ready.

In order to be able to remove the center frame from the lampshade, you are going to have to take out the paper shade. You will not need the circular piece so discard it.

2.) How to prepare the bead lines.

String the bead using the fishing line. In front and behind the bead tie a double knot. Then, put some hot glue on the knots using the glue gun to secure the knots. As a child, growing up in the 80’s, my two favorite dolls were the barbies, cabbage patch dolls and strawberry shortcake doll. I remember my mom and my aunt standing in line, camping out at stores for hours, trying to get these dolls for us at Christmas. Each of these dolls was very popular in its time and they have held their value well for doll collectors.

I also remember hearing about all the fights in the stores that the mothers, aunts and grandmothers would get into at the stores, trying to get that perfect doll for the special girl in their life. I was fortunate that nothing so dramatic happened during the purchase of my gifts. Some people did lose perspective however in their quest to get the doll their child wanted.

My Strawberry Shortcake dolls and accessories still smell of artificial strawberry scent. I took them out of storage the other day and the aroma took me back to my childhood.
